While responsible people stay at home, junkies don't care who gets COVID 19

Stay at home and social distancing works but only if everyone follows it. Those not following social distancing or practicing responsible behavior  include a lot of junkies. Not homeless, not poor people, but self absorbed, selfish addicts.

Responsible people are staying at home, businesses are closed, activity is restricted. But junkies get a pass. So do irresponsible people who decided to travel knowing there was a pandemic.

These junkies are especially putting our law enforcement, first responders at risk. When they OD, who has to deal with them? When their actions make others sick, who is responsible?

We dont have enough hospital beds or tests locally yet the City Manager and Eureka City Council cannot show real leadership to protect the responsible citizens of Eureka. This shouldn't  be an EPD responsibility, get Code Enforcement to actually work instead of ignoring junkie havens.

At first, I addressed this issue privately with appropriate authorities about educating people.

Today is the third day, just in this problem area, groups of people, decided they were entitled to "privacy". Not to rest but to smoke, shoot up and fight and yell. I am pretty sure this alley isn't the only place where this is happening. Junkies are here day and night.

Before I took this photo, the others left when politely asked but these two needed to get their fix and blow smoke where several elderly and people with chronic respiratory issues live. Smoke travels. Sleep and rest is essential to stay healthy.

Where is City Code Enforcement? This particular area is in Kim Bergel's ward. These junkies are attracted to certain areas for a reason. Drug houses , so called "safe and sober houses" and tolerance.

If junkies dont want to follow rules and stay on the streets, that is not my problem.

    1. She loves the junkie who came into my work, coughed into her hands, then touched a bunch of stuff. They are so gross.

  2. I wrote the Mayor about the addicts spreading the virus everywhere and asked her how she was planning to house them. There was no answer. The Eureka City Council only cares about the addicts rights and not the safety of their taxpaying citizens. They brought the "beloved" HACHR needle exchange into Eureka. They fully support the addicts over us.

    1. They could pass a rent moratorium, take actions to help small mom and pop businesses but they are all useless. They have their hand out for grant money yet have done nothing to help the People.

  3. HACHR should be relocated out of a residential area and close to EPD or HCSO.
