Kaber and Kaber law firm's response to clients illustrates the impact on attorneys, clients and the public

To: Clients, prospective clients, counsel, vendors, and the public:

At this time, Kaber & Kaber is open and operating as close to normally as possible. We have spent considerable time working on our internal procedures and policies for the last week when it became clear that there would be extraordinary action taken to prevent the spread of the virus.

Extraordinary actions have now been taken.  California Governor Newsom has asked all persons 65 and older and those with compromised immune systems to self-isolate.

The Humboldt County Courts announced a closure late yesterday that will last, at minimum, through the end of this week. Both the Superior Court and Humboldt County government offices are working on skeleton crews with essential personnel only.

These measures severely impact everybody's access to legal and governmental services. At this time, we do not have more information on what services will be extended by the courts or county during this time, nor do we have an estimation on when services will return to normal.

As time goes on and we learn more, we will provide further updates. We do not know, for example, how documents will be filed with the court or how documents will be submitted for recording to the county recorder.

For now, Kaber & Kaber will largely operate on a socially remote basis.  We will not have in-office meetings except in circumstances where such a meeting is deemed necessary, such as in the case of making acknowledgments before a Notary Public.

All vendors should call to make arrangements to have someone present at the office for deliveries before attempting any delivery. We will not accept drop-ins of any kind.  Our telephone hours are reduced to 8am-12 noon, Monday through Friday. Calls may be returned outside of those hours.

We encourage everyone to follow national, state, and local guidelines to combat the spread of the Coronavirus, as these measures are in place for your safety and ours.

Sincerely,Douglas D. Kaber
