Humboldt County BOS honor legendary" Jerry Scott who passed away this weekend
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors broke from routine procedure this morning. Jerry Scott passed away this weekend.
After the Pleadge of Allegiance, the meeting was opened and closed in his honor.
First District Supervisor Rex Bohn said Jerry Scott passed away Saturday night/Sunday morning.
In addition to being an attorney, Supervisor Bohn mentioned some of his many accomplishments in the he was founding counsel for the Harbor District and their attorney for 35 years and vice president for Historical Society.
Sheriff William Honsal called him "legendary" and addressed his family. Flags are flown at half mast. District Attorney Maggie Fleming spoke about Jerry Scott welcoming her as a new prosecutor."What is so remarkable that he practiced law in a small community for five decades" she has never heard an unkind word about him.
His former law partner, Judge Lawrence Killoran. "I agree with everything everyone said about Jerry. He was such a people person." He talked about meeting Jerry Scott the first time he was meeting with him and Michael Robinson to be hired at their law form.
"Jerry was the most ethical lawyer I ever known," said Judge Killoran. "I will miss Jerry as everyone has indicated."
"I am going to miss the plaid coat and short pants," said Supervisor Bohn. Fourth District Supervisor mentioned the suspenders. "I think Rex covered everything."
Many community members were at the BOS meeting.
