Lights and sirens on 5th street is EPD in pursuit of reckless driver

 

About 2:38, a marked EPD vehicle and two other black cars with sirens flashing drove past me near 5th G. EPD PIO Laura Montagna told me they are in pursuit of a reckless driver right now. The call was for a driver on the wrong way on 5th Street,then 4th street, then it was Code 33.

This is not official information from EPD but after the Code 33, more than one person saw him driving and told me that "a guy was driving the wrong way on I street, then went on 6th street and was by the jail twice, was waving to people". This continued until he was taken into custody by the basement entrance of the Courthouse. By the time, he was at the Courthouse, I was there in person.

The guy tried to enter the courthouse via the basement entrance. CAO Elishia Hayes is here. I did see an ambulance leaving. EPD Chief Brian Stephens confirmed they took the guy to the hospital for medical clearance before he is booked into jail. EPD Chief Stephens is still on scene with a few EPD officers. The white truck is being searched by EPD right now.

On my Facebook page, one of my readers, Andy commented he recognized the white truck and that when the driver was driving the wrong way, he almost ran into Andy.
