Jail and probation say Alma Ahumadamendoza has an ICE hold, her attorney asks for re-referral to supervised release

Intervention was scheduled for Demetrius Coleman and AlmaAhumadamendoza on March 11. Preliminary hearing scheduled for March 18 was vacated.

Coleman  is  charged with murder and special allegation that he personally and intentionally discharged a firearm which caused great bodily injury or death to Johnny Renfro. Ahumadamendoza is charged as an accessory after the fact.

Ms. Andrea Sullivan was recently appointed at the last court hearing to represent Coleman because Conflict Counsel's office had a conflict. As indicated at the last hearing, Ms. Sullivan  requested a motion to continue the preliminary hearing based on the amount of discovery and because additional discovery was anticipated as the investigation was ongoing.

Today, Ms. Christina Allbright appeared in court for Ms. Sullivan. Coleman entered a 10 day time waiver.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer agreed with Ms. Sullivan's reasons and said she would be providing recent reports and discovery to both counsel. The motion was granted by Judge Kaleb Cockrum for good cause.

Deputy Public Defender David Celli represents Alma Ahumadamendoza. He objected to the motion to continue. In February, supervised release was denied. Mr. Celli asked for a re-referral for a supervised release report. "An ICE hold does not preclude supervised release."

A hearing is scheduled on March 13 because Judge Cockrum said that Probation says there is an ICE hold on Ahumadamendoza but Mr. Celli states differently. I checked with the jail and there is an ICE detainer on Ahumadamendoza.

Mr. Celli refused to clarify or comment on the discrepancy regarding his client's ICE status after court.

Intervention was rescheduled for March 30; preliminary hearing for April 1.
