Laptops, electronics bedding collected when search warrant was served on Chad Smith's home


Eureka Police Department Senior Detective Ron Harpham assisted EPD Detective Amber Cosetti in the Chad Smith case.



While Detective Cosetti authored the search warrant for Smith's home on the 3700 block of Middlefield Lane, Det. Harpham served it on June 2,2017. EPD Detective Richard Bise and DA Investigators Steve Dunn and Tom Cooke were also present.

Smith was supposed to arrive at the DA's office for an interview. Once he had left his home, Det. Harpham, Det. Bise and Investigators Dunn and Cooke went to his house. They had made arrangements with the landlord to let them in the house.

Investigators Dunn and Cooke made sure no one else was in the house, Det. Bise took photos and Det. Harpham collected evidence.

Det. Harpham identified photos which were shown to the jury. One ofvthe electronics had  Bernie 2016 sticker.

The photos were of a HP Paviluon computer,a Canon copy machine, two Acer laptops, a HP Pavilion G3 series laptop and videos. These were collected as evidence.

Also collected and booked into evidence was a California driver's licencse, mattress, matress cover, sheets, bedspread and a blanket. Det. Harpham did not know if any forensic evidence from the bedding "was conducted."
