Another child endangerment and drug related arrest today, this time in Miranda

A Miranda woman is in custody on child endangerment charges following an ongoing investigation into community complaints that led to the discovery of illegal drugs and paraphernalia during a probation search earlier this month.

On June 4, 2018, deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office conducted a probation search at a residence on River Road in Miranda in response to community complaints regarding unusual vehicle and foot traffic. During that search, deputies located a large number of prescription pills, Methamphetamine, loaded hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia. No arrests were made during this search.

On June 21, 2018, at about 4:20 p.m., Humboldt County Sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 30-year-old Amber Lynn Friend in connection to the June 4 probation search.

When deputies arrived on scene, they observed a vehicle associated with Friend turn down River Road from State Highway 254 traveling toward the property. Upon seeing deputies, Friend began backing the vehicle onto State Highway 254 away from the property. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. Friend was taken into custody without incident.

Friend was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on charges of child endangerment and knowingly renting a space for the purpose of unlawfully storing or distributing a controlled substance for sale.
