"From inside the newsroom, Gazette police reporter Phil Davis tweeted: "A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead."
He said a gunman "shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees."
"There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you're under your desk and then hear the gunman reload," he tweeted.

According to more than one media report, the suspect is not being cooperative, refused to identify himself and damaged his fingers so law enforcement could not identify him. He was identified by facial recognition software.
Multiple media outlets have identified the suspect as Jarrod Ramos, 38, of Laurel, Maryland.
Ramos sued the Capital Gazette for defamation in 2012. This was after a columnist for the paper wrote about his guilty plea to criminal harassment in 2011. Ramos' case was dismissed; an appeals court affirmed the decision.
