Maybe a few more losses in local elections will give "Humboldt conservatives" a wake up call

Despite being a conservative, I believe there are more people in Humboldt who are a part of the local left who care about the people. Whether I agree with their solutions or not, at least they are not fake conservatives like 99% of Humboldt so called conservatives. The left stand up for their own and are not two faced.

Gossiping behind people's back and anon attacks are just as prevalent among insecure, fake conservatives. The last Eureka City Council election loss should have been the wake up call to so called conservatives and fake moderates. Maybe a few more losses will help make certain people realize that votes are easier when you are genuine and money does not automatically translate into wins.

Ironically,  it is the left that sees my effectiveness in Humboldt. When it comes to Humboldt's future, the left sees the economic potential of this small, rural town better than conservatives. So many possibilities without drugs and jobs that fit Humboldt's lifestyle of small, rural, rugged, natural beauty.

I value loyalty.  I also value integrity, accountability and leaders who allow new blood and a fresh perspective.

To my readers, I am very grateful for your loyalty and support.

I want to thank the many readers who on a regular basis all over Humboldt, the rest of the state and country message or write to me.

Some people have asked how they can help me financially. The easiest way is by continuing to read my blog, saying thank you and telling my advertisers, businesses and others where you saw that article or scoop.

In a small town, making a living is tough for an outspoken outsider but I manage. Speaking the truth comes at a price. I have proved myself of value politically, in the community, and most recently with this blog.  I provide independent reporting that is cutting edge and showed vision to cover courts and the court coverage is unique.

I appreciate the many people who thank me privately and my regular tipsters . They see the value. Those who can barely afford it have offered a token of appreciation since they cannot advertise. So far, three people actually followed through. The one time gesture means a lot. People who want to donate or sponsor independent reporting have always had that option.

It is a shame that people with money and businesses who could advertise or use other promotion services I offer continue to expect insights for free and want me me to speak up on issues while they always want to be anonymous.  If I was a sycophant, I'd be rolling in Humboldt bucks. That is not who I am and it pisses the local blowhards.

If you appreciate what I do; don't tell me that personally over and over and don't tell me that privately. Show that support by standing up for me when people lie and gossip about me. I could care less if you are cheap; don't use your Scrooge mentality to demean me or my work or my value. As an outsider, I have invested a lot of my time and money I earned with hard work into this community. As a business person, to expect a return on a  15 year investment is not unreasonable.

Most, not all of you, need to realize that you did not get where you are by hard work or vision. You benefitted from shutting down any competition, you inherited real estate , married a "local"  or you parlayed "pot" revenue into some other business. When the government funding dries up, the cannabis cash that is already dwindling is gone, the real entrepeneurs will survive or have moved out of this area. Private business people with talent don't need to double dip into government subsidies while looking down on those that need it because of your incompetence, greed and lack of creating jobs.

Humboldt's nouveau riche wouldn't make it anywhere else. Time to start being a little humble, a little grateful and respecting others. Amazes me how many people have court records and a colorful history but think they can continue to bully and look down on others. Don't threaten my livelihood to try and intimidate me into silence.

Save a few individual conservatives, the rest of you are cowards and have done nothing to further the conservative cause or take risks or help grow the local Republican party.  We lost a great leader in Peter Hannaford.

There are more people every day that see and tell me they are onto the gossip about me and the intimidation for speaking the truth. They vote, they shop, and they keep their support of me private.
