Scheme by LA County inmates to deliberately infect themselves with coronavirus revealed
This morning Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva held a press conference. He showed surveilance videos from that exposed a scheme orchestrated by inmates from two units.
The inmates were trying to infect themselves with the coronavirus and were under the impression that they would be released from custody.
Inmates in one unit shared water and in another unit sniffed a mask. Inmates drank hot water right before being checked by a nurse to elevate their temperature.
Within a week of the videos, 21 of about 50 inmates housed in one of the units tested positive for the virus.
