Mark Dare is charged with allegedly molesting his stepdaughters.
Despite being held to answer on all counts after his preliminary hearing, he posted bail and is out of custody.
He bailed after the same Judge who heard his preliminary hearing reduced his bail. The Deputy District Attorney did her job; it is the Judge who let him out and the defense attorney, interim Public Defender Marek Reavis, who argued for Dare's release.
Whether he is still employed at the local station he works at or not is of less concern to me than his past. His prior record in Humboldt and related information about the alleged molestation in Humboldt was not brought up at the preliminary hearing.
Humboldt County Superior Court only has cases online going back so far. I had to confirm this case below via the court database and then have court records check the date of birth.
Would be helpful if Mark Dare's name was listed the same way. In the picture below is his 2018 case. Verifying information in the court system with limited access to the public is very time consuming.
This case is being followed by people outside Humboldt. I received a tip in mid March from someone who read about the present case and followed up on the links below.

The case is from 1985. There is very little coverage or information available and no photo of Mark Dare. Whether it is the same Mark Dare is something I have contacted appropriate agencies in Tulare and to get more information. It's not easy to check on case three decades ago. This is why I document photos and court records in my cases.
The Tulare case is relevant if it turns out to be the same Mark Dare. There was no conviction of Mark Dare in that case but if it is the same guy, should he be out of custody?
It would be very easy for the DA's office with their resources to check on the 1985 case from Tulare.
Just based on his Humboldt record alone, there is sufficient concern for public safety and his alleged victims.
Update: After this post, the DA investigator on this case did check on the 1985 case and that Mark Dare is not the same as the one in this Humboldt County case.

Very interesting. There must be some way to clarify if this Mark Dare is the one involved in this murder. Even if he isn’t, I don’t understand why he was released on his present case. He must have some pull somewhere.
ReplyDeleteHe got his bail reduced and he made bail.
DeleteMajestic, yes, he did.
