We do this despite knowing there will be financial and social consequences. And, we do it with our hard earned money; not grants; not taxpayer dollars.
Those of us standing up to the status quo may disagree sometimes; we may agree; but all of us have one thing in common. We care about this community.
And in Humboldt, if you challenge the status quo, those who abuse power will do everything to destroy you financially, socially, by trolling you, by spreading lies about you, by using others to do their dirty work.
Humboldt's status quo has not changed because many with power and money don't want it to change. They look the other way allowing people to struggle. This includes the local left and the right. Many incompetent people in power, making money with no conscience and foisting generations of their spoiled progeny and incompetent friends to be "successes" at the expense of the community.
Kudos to the community members, businesses and those local elected officials who are not a part of that dynamic. Kudos to those generational families, especially the few wealthy ones, that give and give to this community. They bear the burden and get attacked while their selfish and greedy fellow millionaires are petty and vindictive to anyone who stands in the way of their agenda and profit.
Kudos to those who have supported me with true friendship since I moved here. My true friends and supporters come from all different economic backgrounds, political views, religious beliefs.
You see a few ads on my blog because I only feature businesses that care about this community and are not a part of that dynamic. My past, present and future advertisers are self made, courageous people who do a lot behind the scenes without recognition and support independent reporting.
I have lost some business and been threatened with loss of business for my reporting the truth. I have seen other businesses and individuals face such consequences for speaking the truth.
I don't want business from vindictive cowards and losers who didn't earn ther money by hard work or skill.
I work hard, I earn money that is legal and because of vision and talent. I know my worth. My success is not defined by the haters nor do any of the haters know anything about my personal life, my finances or who I chose to help.
It is important to recognize those individuals and businesses that silently support people in this community without wanting recognition.
I will continue to report the truth about those in Humboldt who have failed this community (for their personal gain) by bringing valid information to the public. And, I appreciate the public, who stands behind me. You, the people have power, by your voice, your votes, your support of businesses. When you speak up, change is possible.
Some locals with tons money donate to the same causes, getting the same photo ops, or thinking their tithe to man made institutions guarantees them Heaven.
The failure of economy, drugs, homeless is on those local "movers and shakers" who continue to fund and support the abuse of power and have for decades. You continue to maintain your lavish lifestyles while hundreds suffer in Humboldt, struggle to keep small businesses open, because you profit from the truth being silenced.
Vote out those both on the left and right in the next election that are allowing this status quo to remain unchanged. And stop electing new faces supported by the same power abusers on the left and the right.
Stop supporting their businesses, including "media" that will not report on anything that has financial consequences for their advertising revenue. Cut and paste articles on government organizations that have no affect on advertising revenue is not "investigative reporting."
You, the people, have the power in the next local election to make a dent, to bring change to Humboldt. Stop letting the same funders and same old promise of "change" from the left and the right divide you.
Unfortunately public shame or morals have not brought change to this community. Since money talks, maybe these profit mongers and their lackeys need a taste of their own medicine. Maybe they need to see what it feels like to be fearful to speak up because you will be boycotted financially and through social pressure. Maybe they need struggle to make a living and see what it feels like not to be hired, given a chance, despite having talent and skills because you don't belong to the right clique that tries to destroy competition because that is the only way they can get revenue.
Stand up to the wink wink nod nod clique of business, media, politicians who only help their friends. That is another plague in Humboldt, the incentuous business and social circle, and it has infected both the left and right.
"I call it I cover up for my buddy and only give my buddies business regardless of their talent or competency." Eureka Chamber of Commerce and Humboldt Made are the same; just promoting different idelogies and different cliques that allow no new businesses to compete.
The best Chamber of Commerce in the area is Mckinleyville Chamber of Commerce. They promote their local businesses, without politics and without the "clique" mentality.
I am very grateful to God for allowing me to be of service to HIM and for giving me the strength and faith.
There are people who do good every day, without recognition, in this community, in this country and in the world. Some go to church, others do not but anyone who stands up for those who cannot is doing Christ's work.
Who do recommend for chamber of commerce. I've never voted for anything to do with that, I'd like to, but they all
ReplyDeleteseemed the same.
Depends on what Chamber of Commerce you are talking about and to vote you have to be a member. Personally, I think cities and Counties need to stay out of promotion and let private enterprise handle marketing and promotion. Government should be for basic services not an employer, especially in a County where jobs are scarce,
DeleteI hate the people who make this community bad
ReplyDeleteGotta agree with you anon but their karma catches up with them.
DeleteJohn - who has wronged you?
ReplyDeleteAnon, not just me, but many others in this community. No need to name them. They know who they are and they can chose to make amends to those they have maligned, hurt, caused financial distress and put down. Or they can remain the losers they are because no amount of money or power makes them a success or decent human beings. Humboldt has great potential and one can be a part of the solution or the problem. Naming people who have no shame or morals or ethics won't make a difference. They end up being exposed in time, of their own accord.
DeleteIf Bass is reelected the Betty Chinn program will continue
ReplyDeleteWe need a voice in Eureka, the piss, shit , syringes and condoms scattered throughout the alleys and doorways. Police services have been cut so no real police presence. All in Bass district. Betty Chinn needs to retire, spend more time with family and friends, spoil herself she has more than deserved it. Eureka cant continue it's open door homeless programs.
