Man who EPD took into custody in July 3 for being delusional and armed arraigned

Oscar Allen Davis was arraigned on three counts, one felony, two misdemeanors.

Count 1 Possession of a firearm under the influence; meth and shotgun. Count 2 Carrying a loaded firearm on one's person in a city. Count 3 drunk in public.

He pleaded not guilty. Public Defender's office was appointed for him; Ms. Meagan O'Connell was in court for the arraignment.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Shaffer was present for the People.

Visiting Judge Bob McNatt subbing for Judge Joyce Hinrichs.

Intervention is on September 29. Preliminary hearing on October 6.

No charges filed yet for Oscar Allen Davis who was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a loaded firearm in a public place

No charges have been filed yet for Oscar Allen Davis but he has a future date on August 12 at 1:30 for a bond status on the arraignment calendar.

EPD Captain Steve Watson elaborated on how the officers came in contact with Davis. A woman called EPD and said there was a man with a shotgun she could see from her backyard.

When the officers arrived, Davis was on his front porch with the shotgun. Davis said he was armed because unknown people werw after him.

He was arrested for public intoxication and being in possession of a loaded firearm in a public place; the front porch.

He had two guns with him which were booked into evidence. Davis also told the police officers, he was armed to protect his father. When the officers went to check on his father, they found other guns and those were taken for safekeeping.

This happened on July 1.

Eureka Police Chief Andrew Mills just confirmed that the man had been taken into custody.

Captain Steve Watson said that the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs and armed himself for protection because he thought unknown people were after him.
