Convicted molestor Jonathan Marcks Sr's son with the same name should have never been given a plea in assault case and sentenced to probation for domestic violence; the son was arrested yesterday for probation violation

Convicted molestor should never have been sentenced to probation by Humboldt Superior Court Judge Kaleb Cockrum when he entered a plea last year to domestic violence.

I have covered a few cases with the same name, there is a Sr, a Jr. Court records and jail reports do not always list the full names, dobs arent listed and it takes time to verify if that information is available. Members of the same family who have been arrested more that name their children the exact same name are more frequent than you think.

Yesterday, Humboldt County Probation arrested and booked Jonathan Eisenhard Marcks, Jr. into jail for PC 1203.2(a)(1) for probation violation.

This is Humboldt County and there are zero consequences for probation violation and repeat offenders.

**Late afternoon on 2/5/26, I was contacted by Deputy Conflict Counsel David Nims about this post. I looked at court records again, when I had more time. Mr. Nims provided me the date of birth of both Marcks, Sr and Marcks Jr which I appreciate. He also confirmed that they are father and son**

2/7/26 update: After reviewing court records, I have updated the headline, added the clarification to this post as requested by Mr. Nims and I have included court records so you can see for yourself that when I am getting out information without complete and proper named listed in court records, covering 20 to 30 cases a day, some defendants with 4 or 5 cases, having to rush through looking at records because of the demand for public access and inconsistent listings and the Ninth Circuit now prohibiting release of booking photos unless in certain circumstances and even that is under discretion; the confusion between Sr and Jr was not deliberate or careless on my part but an accident due to all the above circumstances.

I was not incorrect about Marcks, Jr. getting a plea and then being rearrested for probation violation. It is his dad who is the convicted molestor. I have updated the headline and the post on the blog and fixed the post on other platforms. While I was looking at court records, I saw a temporary restraining order had been granted against Marcks, Jr.

Unlike Mr. Nims, I do not have the luxury of staff to assist me or a steady paycheck paid by taxpayers or access to certain information that attorneys do. I spend way too much time on Humboldt criminals and repeat offenders and reporting under challenges Humboldt specific.

Repeat offenders like Marcks are a threat to public safety and if his housing is threatened, Mr. Nims should talk to his client about his actions and not misdirect blame on me. Mr. Nims told me in a later email that Conflict Counsel's social worker Our office’s social worker provided the same dob information to  house manager that Mr. Nims sent me "and it seems like that resolved the potential threat of our client losing his housing."

2/13/26: Marcks, Jr. is out of custody on supervised release.
