The Transparent Humboldt Coalition just issued a press release seeking additional board members.
THC Press Release:
The Transparent Humboldt Coalition, a nonprofit organization operating government watchdog programs, civil grand jury improvements, and the Liberation Labs ethical AI initiative, is seeking additional board members to help guide its expansion as the organization's projects continue to grow in scope and impact.
The Coalition is strategically expanding its governance to include individuals with expertise that can accelerate its mission: promoting government transparency, ethical technology oversight, and equipping community activists with tools for social change.
"AI is the new means of production, and communities fighting for justice need the skills to seize it," said Board Chair Thomas Edrington. "We're looking for board members who bring strategic value—whether that's technology ethics, nonprofit management, political organizing, fundraising, community organizing, or other areas that strengthen our ability to serve movements for change."
The Coalition’s work developing AI powered watchdog systems has developed IP and innovative techniques that are useful for prosocial purposes well beyond its mission, and has created Liberation Labs to drive that forward. Since launching in the autumn of 2025, Liberation Labs has developed an AI Ethics Scorecard to let people evaluate AI tools for social and environmental responsibility created free open-source AI agents and other tools designed to aid prosocial activism and business hosted (and continues to host) free monthly workshops to democratize access to AI literacy.
Board members will help shape the Coalition's strategic direction, program development, and resource allocation during a critical growth phase. The organization particularly welcomes candidates with backgrounds in accounting, forensic accounting, technology policy, AI ethics, progressive political strategy, nonprofit development, community organizing, grant writing, or related fields.
"If you have expertise that could advance this work and you're committed to progressive values, we want to hear from you,” said Board Secretary Allison Edrington. “The board positions are designed for people ready to contribute."
Interested candidates should have a commitment to progressive values, availability for virtual quarterly meetings, and expertise that complements the organization's current leadership composition.
