Will convicted sex offender's sentencing bring closure to Bear River homicide victims' families?

Convicted sex offender Von Keener entered a conditional plea on November 10 in his 2021 sex offender case. Sentencing in that case and his 2021 parole case took place this morning.

There has been a lot of previous coverage on this case and this blog about Von Keener and the victims' family members have had numerous chances to express how they feel.

Von Keener was sentenced to three years in prison which is the maximum for a felony charge of accessory after the fact. Keener was charged with aiding convicted murderer Mauricio Johnson who pleaded guilty to three Bear River homicides. He waa sentenced to 8 months in his sex offender case.

With custody credits, the time he has been sentenced to is significantly reduced.
