Alleged molestor held to answer to both counts involving lewd acts upon a child

 


On 11/1, alleged molestor Eduardo Sanchez-Tapia was held to answer to two counts of PC 288 (a) lewd act upon a child after his preliminary hearing. Arraignment on information is on 11/16.

HCSO Deputy Nick Carnahan and Ashley Sanchez were the People's witnesses.

Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm is the prosecutor for this case. Tapia is represented by Mr. Martin Michael Woods.


11/16: Tapia's arraignment on information continued to 12/5 after he deferred his entry of a plea.

12/5:  Arraignment on information completed. Mr.Martin Woods relieved, Tapia needs counsel appointed. Trial confirmation scheduled for 1/10/23; jury trial on 1/23/23.

1/10/23:   At trial confirmation, defense motion to continue granted. Jury trial date for 1/23 vacated. Trial setting 2/7.

2/7: Trial confirmation on 5/1; jury trial on 5/22.

5/1: People said if a motion to continue is requested, it needs to be in writing. Trial confirmation continued to 5/9.

5/9: At trial confirmation, defense motion to continue granted over People's objection. Date of 5/22  vacated. Trial confirmation on 7/25; jury trial on 8/7.

7/25: Further trial confirmation on 8/1. Defense asked for another continuance so Ms. Meagan O'Connell can meet with Tapia.
