BOS to vote on giving themselves a raise even though budget doesn't have sufficient funds

The BOS will vote on giving themselves a pay raise on Tuesday. And another lawsuit which costs the taxpayers.

"The financial impact to the Humboldt County General Fund of the proposed salary changes through June 30, 2023, is estimated at $50,900. Over the three (3) years covered by Ordinance, the financial impact to the General Fund is estimated at $229,800."

"The fiscal year 2022-2023 Adopted Salary and Benefit Budget for the Board of Supervisors does not include sufficient funds to fully accommodate the anticipated partial year increases in compensation for Board Supervisors, however, unspent funds in other accounts may provide sufficient funding. Staff will monitor the budget and request a supplemental appropriation, if necessary."

Under closed session at the November 8 Humboldt County Board of Supervisors meeting, "22-1511 10:00 AM - (CLOSED SESSION) Conference with Legal Counsel – pursuant to Government Code Section 54956.9(d)(1) to discuss existing litigation in the case of Citizens Protecting Humboldt Bay v. County of Humboldt, et al., Humboldt County Superior Court Case No. CV2201594".
