Oregon GOP Representative under investigation for letting violent right wing supporters into State Capitol building

Oregon GOP Representative Mike Nearman is s under investigation by the Oregon State Police for letting violent right-wing protesters into the State Capitol during a special legislative session last month.

KOIN quoted Oregon Speaker of the House Tina Kotek who said Nearman  did open a door to let demonstrators into the building. “This was a serious, serious breach of public trust.”

There is surveillance video that is posted on The Hill.

The security footage shows Nearman exit through two doors, briefly pushing one open further allowing a protester to enter the premises. More protesters then enter the building. Oregon State Police eventually force them out. The protestors fight with the police.

A coronavirus special session was underway inside the Oregon Capitol when this happened. Some protestors were carrying rifles. Some of the protesters were violent and attacked journalists. One protestor sprayed an officer with something and that is on footage.

The protestors were outside and were upset with the state's COVID-19 restrictions before they illegally entered the building.
