"A very dangerous man", Pence, Pompeo called on about 25th amendment

Speaker Nancy Pelosi,  Senator Chuck Schumer and Senator Lindsey Graham all had live press conferences this afternoon happening around the same time.

Pelosi's press conference started shortly after 2 p.m.

She repeated a quote from a legislator from yesterday. "We are a country of law, not a monarchy."

She said GOP members abdicated their oath yesterday, three days after they took it.

She brought up the 25th amendment, Pence and Cabinet members. Pelosi said if Pence and Cabinet members don't take action immediately, the House would move forward with impeachment.

"Yesterday the president of the United States incited an armed insurrection against America," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "The gleeful desecration of the U.S. Capitol, which is the temple of our American democracy, and the violence targeting Congress are horrors that will forever stain our nation's history — instigated by the president."

Pelosi called Trump "a very dangerous man" who shouldn't be in office. "This is an urgency of the highest magnitude."

She said about Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, "Do you stand by this President?"

Pelosi said, "ask each member of the Cabinet" if they stand by Trump's actions "after the act of sedition he committed yesterday?"

Pelosi is asking for the resignation of the Chief of Capitol Police Steven Sund.

Paul Irving, House Seargent at Arms, told Pelosi he is resigning.

Schumer also mentioned the 25th amendment. He said he contacted Acting Attorney General Rosen asking  whether Trump would issue a statement condeming the "thugs" and violence at the Capitol. Schumer said not calling them "protestors." Rosen would not commit or say yes. After Schumer and Pelosi made statements, Trump then issued a statement.

Lindsey Graham's press conference is him trying to curry favor with both sides, take no real stand and trying to save his own skin.

Senate Major Mitch McConnell asked Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Michael Stenger to resign effective immediately.  Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms Jennifer Hemingway is the acting SAA.
