Murder and kidnapping suspect Ryan Tanner receipt of Dr. Wilsons report was continued to May 6. There was another hearing on May 18, one this morning and another on June 4 to see if defense will challenge the report.
Tanner's attorney is Mr. Russ Clanton. Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm appeared on this case for the People.
Once again, Dr. Wilson found Tanner competent. Mr. Clanton went and applied for funding ex parte to get another doctor to evaluate Tanner. That doctor is Dr. Williams.
The fact that the taxpayers will foot the bill for Tanner's, "I am nuts" defense was revealed after Ms. Timm brought up that "there is no provision for a second doctor."

The way it works is, one doctor is appointed if the defendant is seeking the finding of mental incompetence, two doctors are appointed if the defendant is not seeking the finding of incompetence (Penal Code section 1369(a)(1).). Sometimes defendants don't have the self-awareness to understand that they have mental health issues. What this sounds like, though, is defendant wants to be found incompetent, one doctor was appointed, finds him competent, and he doesn't like that so he wants a do-over.
