Eddy Alexander and City of Eureka will give three $500 cash prizes for photo contest

Today, Eddy Alexander and the City of Eureka announce that they are launching a community photo contest to celebrate Eureka’s most iconic people, places, and moments. And, they’re giving out three $500 cash prizes for the top submissions.

As the City prepares to launch their new brand in June 2020, they’re once again calling for community participation. The photo competition is open to all residents of Humboldt County so long as they are over 18 and not employed by either the City of Eureka or Eddy Alexander.

“The new brand has evolved with so much community input, and we want to lean in on that authenticity by featuring local photographers,” Emily Kirsch, Eureka Community Marketing Lead said. “While we’re all spending more time at home, this should give everyone a great reason to pull out those photo albums, open up their archives, and share their best stuff.”

Photographers are strongly encouraged to use existing photos from their collections and to think about the events, activities, and experiences that have always made Eureka a great place to live, work, and visit.  While new shots can be entered, it is important to be mindful of social distancing, facial covering requirements, and other relevant Humboldt County orders related to COVID-19.

Eddy Alexander will award three $500 cash prizes for exceptional photography. Entries can be submitted at https://bit.ly/2yOm9N6 and will be accepted through the end of June 2020. Don’t delay however, the first winner will be announced on June 1st, 2020!

Please note: By submitting photos to this competition, you are granting permission to Eddy Alexander and the City of Eureka to use your photography and the likeness of any people represented in future advertising and promotion efforts. Photographers should only submit photos they themselves captured and should not include portraits of anyone who has not granted permission for their likeness
