"The process of investigation and engagement last week was exceptionally powerful. Our work as a school community revealed a strong character and moral compass that guided my decision making process."

Mckinleyville High current principal Nic Collart responded right away to my intial post, yesterday. He followed up after that and sent me additional comments regarding the recent locker room incident and did respond to the alleged basketball incident, as well.

Principal Collart was not the principal at Mckinleyville High when the alleged basketball incident occurred.

"In addition to the email that I sent to parents, students and staff which has now been distributed (and is included below) I would like to add a few things.

The process of investigation and engagement last week was exceptionally powerful.  Our work as a school community revealed a strong character and moral compass that guided my decision making process.

Our students, staff and parents have all shared with me their support for our school and the desire to hold ourselves accountable when we make mistakes.

I am confident in all the young men on our football team, who are handling this the right way, and confident in all the great students at McKinleyville High School who want to help us move forward together.

In the end, our school is committed to being a welcoming and safe place for all students and their families.  We will continue working to uphold that standard."

"With regards to the question on basketball: I believe that was thoroughly investigated and resolved."

  1. That's not a very thorough response, Mr. Collart. You "believe" that it's been investigated? how about providing us more than one sentence in assurance?

  3. This has been going on for years. I have yet to see anyone discuss Ferndale and all their racist comments that they proudly brag about. They have no shame in doing this on the football field or basketball court. Not just the players but also the fans; where the whole student body stands and boo's and yells the N word and nothing is done and no one ever stepped up! Only schools from other counties have filed complaints but here as a local they just want to brush it all under the rug to save face! I'm a white lady with mixed children and this is just appalling. I came from the city to live a quiet life but that got disrupted when my kids started sports. I have never heard the N word so much in my life living here than in the city. Just ignorant people! Living in this town it's all about who you know not what you know!!
