ReplyDeleteOf course not. There's always something more 'newsworthy' to write about. But the public does need to know there are those (I won't call them 'people', they're almost sub-human by their actions) out there who can steal a child's innocence and rob their adult lives of any measure of real happiness and the ability to have a sense of security.
The crime is nasty, the story is nasty (even in its court-approved descriptions), and yes, it makes you want to turn away because even the thought of it makes you feel sick. But if you don't confront evil then you're giving it the ability to continue, ignored by all.
No, it's not a popular subject. But how will parents and children's caregivers know that they have to protect the most vulnerable if they know there are monsters out there in human clothing?
Thank you John for reminding people about this problem, and I hope we can soon read about a LONG sentence. A very long sentence.
Frankly, Vermin convicted of these heinous crimes should be beaten to a pulpieness sufficient to flush down the toilet if the victim wishes it so.
