City of Arcata to kick off Business Watch Program on August 4

Lt. Ryan Peterson told me that the Sunny Brae Business Watch meeting is at 5:30 p.m.

Press Release:

The Arcata Police Department's Neighborhood Watch Program has been a huge success with 26 active Neighborhood Watch groups formed.  Along with keeping the Neighborhood Watch Program going, APD's next goal is to organize a Business Watch Program that will bring neighboring Arcata businesses together to learn, help each other, and work to prevent crime and being victimized.

APD will kick-off the program on August 4, 2016 with the Sunny Brae Business Watch meeting.  All businesses in the general Sunny Brae area will be invited.  At the meeting, a few of the topics that APD volunteers and police officers will discuss are:
  • Business property safety concepts
  • When to call the police-how to call the police
  • What is an emergency; what is a non-emergency
  • Employee safety
It is the hope of APD that numerous Business Watch groups form though out Arcata.  APD would like to foster and support Business Watch groups for areas such as the Downtown, Valley West, Northtown, Samoa Blvd, Alder Grove, etc.

If you are interested in Neighborhood Watch or Business Watch, please contact Lieutenant Ryan Peterson at 825-2566 or rpeterson@arcatapd.org
