Jury in Fieldbrook double homicide case second trial finds Arreaga not guilty on both counts

Around 10:30 a.m. this morning, after just two hours of deliberation this morning, the 9 women, 3 men jury in the Jason Arreaga case had a question.

They started deliberations yesterday at 4 p.m. They broke for lunch at noon, came back at 1 and had reached a verdict. The verdict on both counts was unanimous and Arreaga was found not guilty of first degree murder for both Harley Hammers, Jr. and Angel Tully and not guilty of the lesser charges of second degree murder and voluntary manslaughter.

Jason Arreaga sobbed after the verdict for the first count was read and grasped his attorney, Ms. Holmquist's hand in gratitude. After the second verdict of not guilty was read, he kept sobbing. Ms. Holmquist also teared up.

The courtroom was packed with HCSO staff, deputy district attorneys and public defenders. People silently left the room. Angel Tully"s sister wept as the verdicts were read. Harley Hammers Sr, walked out silently.

The first trial had a hung jury, 9 guilty, 3 not guilty.
