I have a question that maybe you can answer... why in our court system here in Humboldt County, are we not asked/told to rise when the judge comes in??? I have always thought it disrespectful and just wondered as I watched part of a video of this trial...
In Courtroom 2, we do. In other courtrooms, the Judge is usually seated when the Court opens. Good question. It is my understanding that locally, not all Judges prefer that formality.
We do many things in Humboldt County that are not typical. Respect is not just standing when a Judge comes in, it should be in the entire courtroom demeanor.
