John Beideman's bail now one million, three hundred and fifty thousand

Just checked and John Beideman is still in custody. His bail has been increased to one million, three hundred and fifty thousand. Beideman is housed in protective custody.

The request to increase bail was made a recommendation made by HCSO Detective Hilary Havens, who is assigned to this case and prepared the Ramey warrant. She felt the amount of $350,000 was insufficient to ensure public safety.

Arraignment for John Beidemann has not been filed as of 3:11 this afternoon. He is on the must go list for October 10. Courts are closed on Monday so he needs to be arraigned  by Tuesday, or he will be released from custody.

  1. Interesting question. Why wasn’t this pursued? Not really a rare event unfortunately. “Ripping childhoods away” is far too common. If there are investigations started why have been swept under the rug? Some people believe that it will be too hard to have the child testify and relive the terrible details. The victims of sexual abuse, at any age, always have those memories with them. They relive them all the time. PTSD is a horrible thing to live with. A victim can be “doing OK”, being a survivor, and out of the blue there is a trigger. It can be as simple as a smell, a song, a child the age you were while beinging raped, seeing a picture of your abuser or something you don’t even realize is a trigger, and you are a mess. You can have panic attacks, not sleep, feel vulnerable and frightened. Many people become depressed and isolate. There are so many layers associated with sexual assault, especially when the victim is a child having been groomed by a person of trust. I feel it helps the healing of your mind and soul if you are given the power to testify against the person who took away your feelings of safety, given you the grief of your lost childhood, made you feel responsible for the abuse, and that you, the child, are person in the wrong, not the abuser. Is it easy at the time? Hell no, but to see the abuser punished for all the things they have taken away is a great tool towards healing. Don’t let them plea, don’t let them sweep it under the rug. When an abuser doesn’t have consequences, they continue to abuse. If they lose access to one child, they will find another. They can verbalize that they won’t do it again but they will. There is no treatment, there is just incarceration.

So John, this is why I am so thankful for you. You bring the evil out of the darkness. You show their faces and their list of charges. They can’t hide anymore. Someone asked earlier how you handle all of the stuff you hear and read. It has to be hard but I commend you for your dedication. If something is dropped now, we have the ability to ask, what happened? You are also on top of the stories and are already looking for the disposition. It would be hard not to figure out why I appreciate your passion. I wish you were around when I was a child. Keep up the great work! You provide more of a service than you know.
