Judge Miles denies defense motion to release convicted sex offender who failed to register

Defense motion for release of convicted sex offender Richard Wright was denied by Retired Judge Marilyn Miles. Preliminary remains as scheduled on 6/4.

I reported on his arrest by HCSO on 5/21.

It is always good to see Judge Miles who was was at Humboldt Superior Court the week starting 5/27 to 5/30. Every judge should not release any sex offender who fails to register.

It happens too often in Humboldt even with repeat offenders; something noted by few attorneys who have practiced in other counties all over California.

6/6/25: On the day of his preliminary hearing, Wright resolved his case by pleading to failure to register as a sex offender as a misdemeanor instead of the felony he was originally charged with and was placed on one year probation by Judge Kaleb Cockrum.
