Rex tells new Deputy Counsel hire "You don't look like a scumbag"

Do you remember Humboldt First District Supervisor Rex Bohn's inappropriate remark about tamales and Mexicans at a public event or his inappropriate sexualized remark at a Eureka Chamber of Commerce event about a local female business owner or the Board of Supervisors meeting where Rex bragged about being a licensed hunter since the age of 10 and during the discussion about firearms auctioned off in a Humboldt County basket at RCRC, Rex said, "I feel like I a merchant of death."

I am not linking all the posts I did on these "Rexisms." I am also not linking the posts I have done on several Humboldt County Deputy County Counsels leaving or the prosecutors or defense attorneys or County employees who have left or more anticipated exits. Rats jumping off a sinking ship and survivors jumping off the Titanic were less despondent than those who left Humboldt County.

Short staffing plagues Humboldt County and the local courts. Recently, the DA and public defenders spoke before the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors about short staffing and the unmanageable workload. It fell on deaf ears. No raises and a miserable work environment. It is going to get tougher to fill positions. I know for a fact that Rex was a major reason why one Deputy County Counsel left. 

People are pissed. They are calling friends and colleagues all over California and other states about how miserable they are and warning them to stay away. The one name that comes up more often than other Supervisors is Rex. 

I heard from someone today who no longer lives in Humboldt but has been getting calls from several people here. I trust this person and their credibility. I had already heard what this person told me from other people who are upset about a remark Rex made in the Board of Supervisor Chambers.

"I got another call from Humboldt today. This person was pissed," my source said.

At a recent employee orientation, a newly hired Deputy County Counsel was sitting in the audience. "King" Rex who likes to strut about the Courthouse building like he owns it, asked this new hire,"What are you here for?" The person mentioned being the new hire at Deputy Counsel.

Rex's response, "You don't look like a scumbag."
