Citizens for a Better Eureka looking into options including appealing yesterday's ruling to the State Supreme Court and say they will "push forward" on three other active lawsuits against the City of Eureka

 

Yesterday, I did this post. I reached out to City of Eureka, Wiyot Tribe and Ms. Gail Rymer, spokesperson for Citizen's for a Better Eureka.

While City of Eureka Assistant Manager and Clerk Pam Powell responded to me promptly and forwarded my request to the new City of Eureka attorney, I have yet to hear back from the City of Eureka or the Wiyot Tribe. Last time, I spoke with Ms. Siena Kalina who is representing the Wiyot Tribe and got lucky to reach her during the day. 

Ms. Rymer got back to me this afternoon with the following statement.

"The court’s ruling is not the outcome Citizens for a Better Eureka anticipated; instead of following prior on-point cases, the court strained the facts and law to avoid dealing with the real issues presented in this case. We will consider our options over the coming days, which include appealing the decision to the state Supreme Court. We will also push forward our other active lawsuits against the City and maintain our efforts to support downtown Eureka businesses while advancing smart housing initiatives."

I have regularly updated what happened with the other lawsuits. I have included a summary and status of four lawsuits by CBE and one by Eureka Housing for All. There are similar people in both groups.

More than a day and a half since I reported the news yesterday and still no coverage by other media.
