Suspended attorney Victor Campos is ineligible to practice law. On October 7, the drug case for him and his co-defendant Kyle Cross was continued by defense. Readiness Conference is scheduled for 1/8/25; jury trial on 1/21/25. Just Campos' name was on the court calendar recently. On October 8, a motion to produce evidence or dismiss was filed by defense in Campos' case. There was a hearing on 10/22 before Judge Steven Steward. At counsel's request, another hearing was specially set before Retired Judge Christopher Wilson on 10/29.
Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris is the prosecutor for this case. Campos was represented by Deputy Public Defender David Nims who recently transfered to Conflict Counsel. Deputy Public Defender Ryan McClurg appeared for Campos at the 10/22 court hearing. Cross' attorney is Deputy Conflict Counsel Zack Curtis.
I heard some information a while back from sources who know Campos and Cross which maybe relevant to Campos' defense and this motoin to dismiss but am not going to include it yet. It is from the same source who told me Cross is Campos' former secretary's son and one of the few people who told me Campos had been evicted from his home office. I did check court records at that time for any eviction proceedings against Campos and I recall a filing. I will check again next week and update the post accordingly, however when I mentioned this eviction in my January 2024, neither Campos or anyone on his behalf contacted me to say otherwise. I have seen Campos and public defenders at the Courthouse more than once since that post.
If you read my previous and regular coverage on Campos, he claimed back in April 2023 charges against him would be dismissed with nothing on the court calendar.
I checked court minutes for 10/22 which are included in this post. I will check the 10/29 minutes when I have time next week and update. When he was arrested in March 2023, I reported exclusive information in that post which included observations about Campos' home office.
