Former Hoopa softball coach and convicted sex offender William Jarnaghan seeking to expunge criminal record

Former Hoopa softball coach and convicted sex offender William Jarnaghan had a hearing this morning on a petition to dismiss charges/ expunge his record. 

There was a hearing on 10/22/24  on the PC 1203.4 petition. Judge Steven Steward referred it to probation. At the 10/22 hearing, Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees appeared on the case for the People; Mr. Beorn Zepp was present for Jarnaghan. The original prosecutor on this case was former Deputy DA Brie Bennett and Jarnaghan was previously represented by Mr. Neal Sanders who is now retired.

Judge Steven Steward granted the petition over objection of Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm. Ms. Tracy Rain appeared on the case for Jarnaghan. When I initially wrote the headline and post, the ruling had not been issued. I have updated the post and included the 11/12/24 dismissal order and this means Jarnaghan's conviction has been dismissed and he is no longer a sex offender.
