Eureka City Manager Dean Lotter is on administrative leave

Four months since he officially started the job, he is being evaluated. That is not typical.

Acting City Manager Pam Powell will do double duty and continue with her City Clerk responsibilities. "I have two deputy clerks, Christine Tyson and Christine Lopez who assist me," she said.

I have asked the City of Eureka two questions:

1. Is Dean Lotter on indefinite admin leave?

2. Will there be any information released in the future regarding this atypical action when Lotter has only been on the job for 4 months?

"Today, the Eureka City Council announced that City Manager Dean Lotter is on Administrative Leave.

Effective immediately, Pam Powell, City Clerk, will assume the role and responsibilities of Acting City Manager.  City Clerk Powell was appointed to the City Clerk position in 2009 and has worked in Eureka City Government since 1993.

At Council’s direction, Acting City Manager Powell will continue to lead the remaining COVID-19 response and begin taking the actions necessary to safely move our community, and our economy, forward.    No additional information can be provided at this time.  "
