Fr. Eric Freed's family choses to stay in courtroom while graphic images of the body and evidence were shown to the jury
Testimony resumed this morning with former EPD Detective Todd Fulton taking the stand.
Yesterday, Mr. Wilcox testified briefly before 4 p.m. He testified about a wooden gate in front of the rectory, on the other side of the pathway, that leads to a back area where pipes were found. The hinges on the wooden gate were broken. Photos of the broken window through which Bullock gained entry into the rectory and another photo from inside the house looking into that room with glass fragments on the floor and window sill. The window had been broken into from outside. A furnace filter had been placed blocking that window and this is how it was when police arrived. Photos of paint chips and a broken cell phone part were also identified by Mr. Wilcox.
This morning photos and physical items such as broken parts of cell phones, metal pipes, wooden stake, tape dispenser with blood and graphic photos of Fr. Eric Freed's bloody face, nose and body were shown.
Even though DA Investigator Martin Perrone and DDA Andrew Isaac informed Fr. Eric's family before showing certain photos, they chose to remain in the courtroom.
One of his sisters wiped away tears. Betty Chinn, who attended today, sobbed softly throughout this morning.
The rest of the morning Mr. Wilcox took physical items out and showed the jury. The jury saw the pipe Bullock is seen carrying on the video; the jury saw the blood soaked t shirt removed from Fr. Freed's body and the jury saw the cigar recovered from the burner. DDA Isaac, connected physical evidence being shown to either photos or what the jury saw on the surveillance video.
All those items shown today are listed below in detail from the evidentiary hearings.
