While Kip Branson was arrested by HCSO on May 16, the complaint filed by the Humboldt County District Attorney shows it is a merged case with the Rio Dell Police Department. The DA has charged Branson with 6 felonies; one misdemeanor and a special allegation.
The arrest warrant and affadavit authored by RDPD Cpl. Crystal Landry. The alleged victim has a daughter with Branson. According to the afadavit, Branson punched the alleged victim three times; sent a graphic, violent video and texted her that he was going to "butcher her and her roomate."
Branson was arraigned on 5/20. DA request for no bail was granted by Retired Judge John Feeney. Conflict Counsel appointed to represent Branson and he was served with a criminal protective order.
OR bail is on 5/22; preliminary hearing on 5/29.
5/22: Supervised release denied by Retired Judge John Feeney.
