Nomination deadlines if you want to run against Kati Moulton or Scott Bauer for Eureka City Council

(Moulton)

(Bauer)

City of Eureka Assistant Manager and Clerk Pam Powell just sent out election information about Ward 2 and 4. I checked and no one has submitted a 501 FPPC form yet. After the nomination period, Ms. Powell can release information and confirm.

Kati Moulton is the current Councilmeber for Ward 2. Scott Bauer is the current Councilmeber for Ward 4.

7/16: I checked with Ms. Powell and no one had submitted any paperwork. 7/18: Checked again, no one had pulled paperwork except for Councilmember Moulton. Since she posted on Facebook, Ms. Powell was able to confirm.

The General Municipal Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, for the election of two City Council members, one each from Wards 2 and 4. The nomination period for these offices will open on Monday, July 15, 2024. The nomination period ends at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 9, 2024 and may be extended to Wednesday, August 14, 2024 for contests in which an eligible incumbent officeholder does not file.

The General Municipal Election will fill two seats on the Eureka City Council: • City Council Member representing Ward 2 for a full term of four years. • City Council Member representing Ward 4 for a full term of four years. To be eligible to hold office as a City Council Member, a person must be at least 18 years old and a registered voter residing within the boundaries of the ward they seek to represent at the time the nomination papers are issued. Residents may identify the ward in which they reside in at Ward Information and entering their address. All forms required for nomination and election to the City Council in the City of Eureka are furnished by and filed with the City Clerk. Persons considering filing to become a candidate are required to make an appointment with the City Clerk to obtain the nomination papers, review the filing requirements, and ask questions about the process. Appointments can be made in person by visiting Eureka City Hall, located at 531 K Street, by contacting the City Clerk by email at ppowell@eurekaca.gov, or by phone at (707) 441-4175. The office hours are 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, closed during the noon lunch hour.
