I had to block Kathleen Bryson because she would not stop messaging me to take her DUI post down. I did not write about the times she messaged people in the last month trying to manipulate them into asking me to take the post down. None of them did as she asked.
The only person who did contact me was Steve Payton, owner of Bill Davidson Bonds. He harassed me about it repeatedly via text until I had to block his messages. Then he yelled profanities at me at the courthouse when I told him, "don't ever tell me what to write." Such "professional" behavior.
I received a tip after this post that Payton shares a "mutual business interest" with Bryson. Prior to this, I had a good relationship with Payton.
I am writing this post today because Bryson continues to harass my friends trying to get them to ask me remove the post about her DUI. She should have thought of that before she allegedly plowed into a metal sign. She was booked for a DUI; it is news. Bryson is a local attorney who represents clients charged with DUIs.
Bryson is no different than anyone else listed in the jail log. I would not be in this position if other local "media" would do their job. I know at least one TV station that was going to report it; they didn't. Is Kathleen Bryson still running her big ad in the North Coast Journal? NCJ, the only publication to completely ignore the Kailan Meserve case.
Just like other media that completely ignored the five DUIs that Eureka Natural Foods' owner Rick Littlefield got and he is on probation. The rest of the media ignored local businessman Randy Cook molestation case and several other news stories that only I reported.
I wrote about the Schoonmaker vs City of Eureka case. It recently settled. A case in which the original settlement offer was 3.2 million and no other local media covered that news story.
Local "media" and some of their anonymous and not anonymous commenters go on and on about a former DUI Ryan Sundberg got. They go on and on about Trevor Bohn even after a Judge found there was insufficient evidence to hold Bohn to answer to charges.
But the same media and commenters are fine giving a pass to Steve Madrone's former DUI?
When the rest of the media does not do their job, does not cover people equally, they don't deserve to be considered legit news sources or journalists.
Bryson is not the only one who has pulled this stunt of trying to get me to take down news. This is what happens in a small town where PR and selective coverage passes as "news" and people are used to influencing what is covered. If you let others influence what news you cover; you are not a "journalist." Nor should you be trusted.
Interesting.....so their against Freedom of Speech and due process.
