Thanks to Humboldt Presiding Judge Kelly Neel and Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm, my faith in the criminal justice system and local courts is restored. It is time for Judge Neel to be back  hearing cases in criminal court.

Today is one of those days when I remember why I do the blog, why I like being in court doing live coverage. Today, I can momentarily forget the challenges and hardship of doing this blog for 11 years and focus on the positive.

We are very lucky to have Judge Neel and Ms. Timm.

Read my Manuel Garcia Avalos and Richard Stobaugh posts this weekend or in a few days if you want to the complete update or read them now . There is enough posted to make my point about my Timm. Another case where with everything thrown at her this week, Ms. Timm got justice for three survivors, three decades in prison and another convicted molestor who waived appellate rights.

Judge Neel was in Courtroom 5 yesterday and today. I was there for arraignments and a plea. I have several cases to update and two arraignments this weekend for Erik Nealand Zoe Elizabeth McMillanBourne which are only two examples of how efficiently Judge Neel handled the afternoon calendar. Judge Neel protects defendants and victims rights, asks appropriate questions of the prosecutor and defense attorneys and treats the inmates with compassion.

I have written about Judge Neel's background in different types of law a few times, including when she was running for judge. She is meticulous about disclosure and how a judge conducts themselves with media and public and. Judge Neel is organized and efficient and she preps for each case regardless of a workload.
