Homicide suspect Destinee Rhamy's case was on today for trial setting and confirmation of counsel. Ms. Andrea Sullivan was appointed to represent Rhamy. Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor for this case. Trial setting on 5/6.
In my March 27, post, I reported that Rhamy was most likely to get a private attorney. Ms. Sullivan is her third attorney.
5/6: Readiness Conference on 10/1; jury trial 10/13.
10/1/25: DA filed a motion to continue, court minutes just say "medical emergency", motion was granted. 10/13 date vacated. Readiness Conference on 1/13/26; jury trial on1/26/26.
1/13/26: Jury trial confirmed but Rhamy requests Marsden motion which is scheduled for 1/14.
1/14/26: Marsden motion denied.
1/26/26: Ms. Sullivan in trial in another county; continuance granted for a week. Intervention hearing on 1/28; jury trial on 2/2.
1/28: Jury trial remains.
This is not from court minutes but Rhamy wants probation. The DA's office is not going to offer that in a homicide case.
2/2/26: Jury trial continued to 2/3; it is trailing because Ms. Sullivan's trial out of county may resolve.
2/3/26: Continued to 2/4. Ms. Sullivan still in trial; Rhamy just had dental surgery.
2/4/25: Continued to tomorrow.
2/5/26: Jury trial still trailing; Ms Sullivan still in trial in Riverside County.
2/6/26: Continued to 2/9.
2/9/26: Jury trial assigned to Judge Lawrence Killoran. Continued by defense to 2/10 after Rhamy requested a Marsden hearing. On 1/14/26, as I previously reported, Retired Humboldt Judge Christopher Wilson denied Rhamy's Marsden motion.
2/10/26: Jury trial continued to 2/23; marsden motion denied by Judge Killoran.
