Being an old building, a windy day, the fire at Oberon could have spread rapidly causing a lot of damage

Humboldt Bay Fire Chief Bill Gillespie spoke with me later commended the person who saw the smoke at Oberon, called Humboldt Bay Fire.

Electrical shortage sparks fire at Oberon Grill in Old Town

HBF Battalion Chief Chris Emmons said fire started at the back of Oberon Grill.

According to one of the employees I just spoke with, there was an electrical shortage in one of the outlets and there was visible smoke but the fire was inside wall.

A Humboldt Fire Truck and another van went down with sirens on Fifth Street around 3:20.

Fleming announced that today 41-year-old Barbara Jones of Eureka pled guilty to robbery, admitted the use of a knife and admitted she had a prior “strike” conviction for robbery from 2008. Judge Feeney sentenced her to 7 years in prison.

On September 26^th, 2017, at about 4:30 PM, the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office received a call for service regarding possible human remains located near the College of the Redwoods campus on Tompkins Hill Rd.

EPD officers detained and arrested one man and one woman near California and Wabash right now. From one house, you can hear a woman screaming, "He broke my nose." That is what the woman screaming claimed; not verified by any official source.

A hearing to get recommendations and appoint doctors to evaluate Kimberly Felder was scheduled this morning.

A disposition and reset hearing for Orick murder suspect Elisha Wilson was scheduled for this morning.

Cory Fisher is charged with alleged sexual abuse of three minor male victims. Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads will be prosecuting this case.

On September 23, 2017, at about 1:15 a.m., officers with the Eureka Police Department and Humboldt Bay Fire (HBF) responded to the 400 block of K Street for the report of a sleeping bag on fire on the steps of a business.

Criminal proceedings had been suspended for Richard Dean, the Hoopa teen charged with the stabbing of the 52 year old in Arcata in January 2016. In May 2016, Dean was admitted to Napa State Hospital. In March 2017, after a six month review, Dean was awarded a certificate of mental competency.
