$50,000 in damage, cause unknown, for single family residence fire on Amelia Street

On June 2nd at approximately 11:15 PM Humboldt Bay Fire responded to a reported residential structure fire 200 block of Amelia Street.  Three fire engines, one ladder truck, one squad and two chief officers responded.  Upon arrival first arriving crews observed smoke and flames coming from several windows to the front of a one-story single family residence.  As units arrived they were assigned to extinguish the fire, ventilate, and search for any trapped occupants.  The building was unoccupied and there are no reported injuries.

The fire was knocked down in approximately 10 minutes, with full extinguishment and overhaul taking approximately one hour. Two bedrooms sustained heavy fire damage and there is smoke damage throughout the residence.

The fire's origin and cause remain under investigation at this time. Damage estimate is approximately $50,000.
