Jackson Parrot was having an affair with Christopher Overholt's wife? Which suspect was the masked individual who jammed a gun into alleged victim's eye socket?

Yesterday, a jury of 7 women and 5 men and two women as alternates were sworn in convicted felon Jackson's Parrott's co-defendant case. Christopher Overholt has an immunity agreement with the Humboldt County DA's office and the third suspect, Michael Cady has not been arrested and is on the lam. Overholt is represented by former Humboldt DA Mr. Paul Gallegos. HCSO did not release Overholt's booking photo.

This morning, Humboldt Deputy District Attorney Ian Harris and Ms. Andrea Sullivan both presented opening arguments in Parrott's co-defendant case. Two other cases for Parrott are trailing. Humboldt Superior Court Judge Kaleb Cockrum.

While both opening statements were brief, I learned nothing from Mr. Harris' statements which had no specifics on evidence and was lackluster. I got more details from Ms. Sullivan's opening which was excellent. The odds against Parrott are stacked due to his record and he lucked out having Ms. Sullivan as his attorney.

All three suspects should be held accountable but in a broken, imperfect criminal justice and court system and in a small county, deals are made with the devil on a regular basis and who gets prosecuted and who gets deals are obvious to anyone who reads my blog or follows court and crime locally and nationally. Whether due process and rules are followed is like playing roulette.

In my past two previous posts, I mentioned I received an email and why I have not posted that information. If you haven't read those posts; go read them. 

The email was from Nicole Overholt who is expected to testify. There were many issues with Nicole's ramblings including her not providing evidence and I could not substantiate her claims. Let's see what and if any information comes out in court testimony when she testifies. 

At 11 a.m. while Ms. Sullivan was wrapping up her opening arguments, Cady was still not in custody. A BOLO and warrant for attempted murder, mayhem, robbery, burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime for Cady has been issued.

In his opening, Mr. Harris hinted at what Ms. Sullivan revealed moments later. Mr. Harris mentioned "relationship dynamics" and what he expects the evidence to show.

Ms. Sullivan started her remarks to the jury by saying, "This is my opportunity to tell you what I expect the evidence to show."

Ms. Sullivan stated the date of the alleged incident. "Mr. Kennedy Silva pulled into his garage. Two masked individuals slipped inside the garage. Mr. Silva was shot  and dragged out from the truck by one of the masked individuals. The other individual tried to get into the house and triggered the alarm."

"The individual who triggered the alarm was Michael Cady who was seen on the Ring camera. He has not been apprehended yet."

"The guy that dragged Mr. Silva out of the truck jammed a gun into Mr. Silva's eye socket," said Ms. Sullivan. "The two individuals fled in Mr. Silva's Toyota Tacoma truck."

"Cady gives multiple stories," said Ms. Sullivan. "He was interviewed multiple times." Law enforcement interviews with Cady lead them to Christopher Overholt. 

"Overholt tells multiple stories and accuses Parrot after he finds out Parrott is sleeping with his wife."

"This is all testimonial evidence," said Ms. Sullivan. "It is based on credibility. Parrott was an hour away. At the most, he may have had 15 minutes. He couldn't have participated in the entire event. Overholt will be found guilty as an accomplice unless independent evidence exists."
