Was told that one of the jail units is on lockdown due to a fight and that impacted the transporting of some defendants to court. Whether the unit is on lockdown or just a fight, there has been no livestream for over an hour and am still waiting on one case.
I have contacted HCSO PIO Samantha Karges. One of the units I asked about, Unit 334 is not on lockdown. "There must have been some miscommunication that you heard," she said.
I checked with the jail staff about the same unit and they don't have any information about that unit being on lockdown It has been a very busy morning for them with visitors and the phones.
On a day when the court calendars are running late and multiple cases, I have been sitting around waiting on case after case. Can't update other cases and miss the livestream.
COVID 19 and no direct access to the second floor really impacts getting direct information. There is no reason Public Health cannot come up with safe alternatives and allay unreasonable fears so media can have access to government buildings and courts. 10 months into this pandemic, numbers are rising because of lack of enforcement and zero consequences for irresponsible individuals and no sensible plan to curb the spread.
This has impacted the ability of certain people more than others to make a living and the same people cannot get PUA or PPP due to incompetence and petty personal politics in Humboldt and California.
