Last minute motion by People with the documents sealed leads to yet another continuance for convicted human trafficker's preliminary hearing

Preliminary hearing for convicted human trafficker David Anderson was scheduled for March 12. This is the second time Anderson is charged with human trafficking. He also has a parole revocation case.

The preliminary hearing was continued due to a last minute motion filed by the People.  The motion needs to be heard before the preliminary hearing proceeds.

The documents are sealed and no details were given about the motion. Attorneys discussed the motion at the bench with Judge Timothy Canning.

Status of motion and preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17.

Charges for today's preliminary hearing include human trafficking, forcible rape, sodomy and forcible oral copulation. The special allegations allege Anderson administered a controlled substance to the victims who were minors at that time.

Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads is the prosecutor for this case. Mr. Michael Acosta is Anderson's attorney.

Mr. Acosta's request to share the sealed documents with Anderson was denied without prejudice until the next court hearing. Mr. Acosta met with Anderson in a holding cell, after court.

I covered Anderson's previous jury trials and eventual plea for his first conviction for human trafficking in Humboldt.
