Providence's National Communication Director responds to my questions about the State of California lawsuit

(Bonta's press conference)

I had contacted two different local spokespersons for Providence in Eureka this morning about the lawsuit filed by the State of California. I heard back at 4:56 p.m. today from Mr Bryan Kawasaki, National Communications Director for Providence.

This is their response to the three questions I asked:

1. when was St. Joe's Providence notified or served? 2. Is there an attorney representing St. Joe's Providence in this lawsuit 3. Any comment?

"Providence is deeply committed to the health and wellness of women and pregnant patients and provides emergency services to all who walk through our doors in accordance with state and federal law. We are heartbroken over Dr. Nusslock’s experience earlier this year. This morning was the first Providence had heard of the California attorney general’s lawsuit, and we are currently reviewing the filings to understand what is being alleged. Because this case is in active litigation and due to patient confidentiality, we cannot comment on the matter.  As part of our pledge to delivering safe, high-quality care, we review every event that may not have met our patient needs or expectations to understand what happened and take appropriate steps to meet those needs and expectations for every patient we encounter."

If an independent reporter in a small county like me can get a comment from Providence, national and certain other "local" media can update their earlier articles & get comment & present both sides.
