Why has the Lawson family allowed shit stirrers to hijack Josiah's case and investigation?

Even with Charmaine Lawson being present at the recent Arcata City Council, the usual shit stirrers Tina Sampay (in the Mad River Union article) and Michael Fennel (seen in the North Coast News video) continue their antics of being a distraction rather than help.

Neither Sampay or Fennell are related to Josiah Lawson, nor has there any  been any evidence that they knew him personally. Whenever they are involved whether at an event or he courtroom; there is chaos. Other vigils, community events have been peaceful.

You cannot go around calling someone who has not been convicted a murderer. What about the trolls and lies being spread about Zoellner? What about the anonymous and not so anymous lies and allegations being spread about others?

http://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2017/05/maybe-these-photos-will-explain-why.html?m=1

Sampay has no problem being interviewed by media that does not call her out or ask tough questions. Sampay is just pissed her claim on her site was premature and irresponsible and pissed that APD didn't do her bidding. If she had evidence to back her claim she should have provided it.

http://johnchiv.blogspot.com/2017/08/you-decide-how-credible-this-claim-by.html?m=1

Why has the Lawson family not called these two out or told them to chill despite the drama they have created from the beginning? Does Ms. Lawson condone Sampay's behavior and antics and derogatory remarks about this community? She thanked a Tina today in the KAEF facebook live video.

Ms. Lawson speaks well. She speaks abut her loss, her son, what she is going through but nothing like Sampay or Fennell. It is very sad to see Ms. Lawson have no answers, no justice for her son's death.

And where is Elijah Chandler lately? He usually made sure to he was included in every press coverage with Ms. Lawson?

None of the local media wants to ask any tough questions in this case. Maybe they are afraid of being called racist and being harassed like me?

Even with all the media and community attention, a FBI detective that the Lawson family chose, a reward that keeps increasing, despite repeated pleas by Ms. Lawson and APD, witnesses are not coming forward. Why?

Radiohead made good points in the North Coast Journal on how race politics have affected the coverage, discussion of this case.

Radio head who commented on a NCJ article made some good points:

Lorna Bryant does NOT host "in-depth conversations about race, equity and people of color". She hosts a predictably politically correct rap session which hasn't once addressed such obvious issues as race baiting, playing the race card, "white shaming" etc. Not one of her talks regarding the Lawson case addressed the vicious beating carried out by "people of color" prior to Lawson's death, the conflicting testimony from Lawson's own friends, etc. Lorna apparently has no intention of having a truely in-depth conversation about race relations.

I suggest listening to Lorna's first "in-depth" talk about the Lawson case, in which the same woman who went on to admonish Humboldt's police and medical staff as being in severe need of formal training in race relations, says she's a first time visitor to the area, and when she arrived she could "smell the racism in the air". She says, with sincere conviction, that she was afraid she was going to be dragged out of her hotel room at night and sacrificed in "some sort of ritual". How is a person like that taken seriously when telling others they have inherant bias enough that the county should fund disciplinary education? Why didn't Lorna, or anybody for that matter, address her own racism? Why doesn't anybody at the Journal address these obvious issues either?

Hi Radio Head, One of our projects at KHSU is to bring people of differing views together over lunch or dinner to civilly discuss their views.

We then offer them a chance to share what they have learned and whether their perspective has changed at all.

Can we invite you to lunch?

Thanks for the invite, Peter, but what you're asking of me isn't what Lorna Bryant, her guests or the editors of the Journal are insisting of the general public. They haven't so much as acknowledged too many obvious issues that are among the onslaught of responses to what they, our media, present regarding race relations and the Lawson case. They're alienating and infuriating the people they're trying to reach. It's no service to people who have their own passions and problems. People of all demographics are lining up to sell us all out. Those people distract everybody from issues that effect literally everybody. Ask Lorna Bryant and the editors of the Journal to have uncomfortable discussions about issues they haven't addressed before demanding the disinterested and otherwise uninvolved be roped onto their politically correct bandwagon. They're getting paid to do it, not me. Also, I work for the public without discretion and don't want to subject myself or my employer to potential hostility of any kind. The crowd's treatment of Arcata's mayor at a recent gathering over Josiah''s murder was shamefully ignorant, hypocritical and disrespectful. I challenge you, Peter, to ask Lorna to discuss that incident. I'm just a poor manual laborer, not a talk show host or a journalist. I do appreciate your invite.

  1. Eliar Chandler needs to tell the truth! He knows exactly what happened.

  2. Do you know any details surrounding the circumstances of the 2001 homicide of an HSU student that Tina Sampay and friends have been equating this to? I can't find any articles in online archives, but I haven't lived in this area long enough to know about it. I did find a couple memorial type things, so I trust it happened, but I'm curious to know if the circumstances are at all comparable. Apparently it was an HSU student named Corey Clark who was killed in Eureka and the suspect wasn't found.

    1. I could not find anything except one newsletter reference and a reference in a tag in another article Sampay wrote about Lawson but nothing about Corey Clark. Hard to believe there would be no coverage at all. If you find anything let me know.

    2. Will do. Perhaps the public library would have local newspapers from 2001

    3. Anon, I looked in court records, in 1994, two civil cases were filed with one party being Corey Clark and Autumn Weaver. One was dismissed; another disposition undefined. No criminal case listed. You can spend time chasing down Tina Sampay's claim. I don't have time to waste on unverified claims. Other readers have looked into it and zilch.

  3. They are not coming forward because the true victim in this case was the white kid and the Blacks who were there all know it. Esoecially ELiar Chandler. He knows what happened.

  4. Tina Sampay and her little friends are not helping and are definitely hurting - they're hurting the investigation, they're hurting their cause and they're hurting this community. Somehow, a drunken party in Arcata means McKinleyville is racist, and they insist we all deal with their accusations. There's no reasoning with their insanity.

'Radiohead' is right - NONE of those questions get asked, none of those points are raised, the bias is all powerful.

A huge party, drinks and drugs, one kid comes to pick up his girlfriend, asks if anyone has seen her phone, gets attacked, beaten, then accused of stabbing one of his attackers. Turns out, what evidence there is, does not include his fingerprint on the knife. Whose knife is it? Who wielded it? Who knows?

Someone knows, Possibly multiple someones. Someone's fingerprint is on that knife. It may be one of Josiah's friends, trying to stab Kyle, missing and getting Josiah in the melee. It could be someone who picked up the knife, had an 'oh shit' moment and dropped it, who wasn't involved at all.

It's quite likely whoever it is is NOT back at school this year. That's where to start asking questions. If it's even possible to find out who was there that night... we've heard hundreds of kids... and they're not cooperating, from all accounts.

Tina Sampay is wrong. The investigators are doing their jobs, they have not given up. They are doing the quiet work that doesn't get public attention. They - and we all - want justice. It just might not look like Tina Sampay wants it to look. It may have been an accident, and the perp may get off. The perp may be one of Josiah's friends. No one knows. But there's no statute of limitation on murder, and that fingerprint will surface someday, somewhere, for some reason.

Meanwhile, Tina Sampay needs to learn to listen and be respectful, let justice take its course. She's not helping.

  5. With all due respect for Charmaine Lawson's grief, she thoroughly discredited herself when she advocated for arresting Zoellner's girlfriend as a suspect in Lawson's killing. She is no more interested in the truth of the matter than any of the other clowns making noise for "justice for Josiah."

    1. And aligned herself with Tina Sampay and has three lawyers, one who is local and I can understand make certain appearances. But two more, one of those as I pointed out fairly quickly after the news of her son's death. She is not the only grieving mother, there have been others who lost their young children, who were not in a fight but sleeping. Remember Bodhi Tree? There have been tons of donations and support for Charmaine Lawson that others did not have. Grief does not excuse having three lawyers, constantly talking to the media and associating with racial tension shit stirrers like Sampay. For months, she has refused to disassociate herself with Tina Sampay and others who create tension and spreading their version being reprinted as fact. Other mothers have waited years for justice. This political pressure and race card in a crime which is a crime is getting old. By most accounts, her son and his girlfriend started the fights and her son went back and got into an altercation. Did he deserve to die? No, he did not. Neither did Kyle Zoellner who got beat up for politely asking about a phone. Seeing the chip on the shoulder Sampay and others have demonstrated, they are too quick to take insult where none is intended. Other races aren't complaining. Let the investigation proceed without this constant media attention.
