In 2019, now retired but then on the bench, Humboldt Superior Court Judge Christopher Wilson released sex offender Ryan Landowski who had multiple parole warrants over the Humboldt County District Attorney's objection. I have covered Landowski since 2019 where he is repeatedly in court, had a hung jury in one case, had sexually violent predator Joshua Cooley's parents show up in court to support him.
Landowski was arrested by Eureka Police Department yesterday for PC 211 robbery and PC 209 (b) (1) aggravated kidnapping.
Instead of linking past coverage, in this case, I am including screenshots of my coverage of Landowski since 2019. If all, I did was cover Humboldt repeat offenders; I would have enough daily court and crime coverage.
Eureka Police Department issued a press release on 11/10/25.
EPD Press Release:
On November 7, 2025 at approximately 9:48 p.m., Eureka Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of G Street for a report of a strongarm robbery.
The reporting party/victim stated while riding in a vehicle operated by Ryan Taylor Landowski, age 41 of Eureka, he pulled her hair and forced her to provide him her ATM card.
Landowski refused to allow the victim out of the vehicle and drove to an atm. Landowski removed money from the victim’s account and while doing so the victim was able to escape and phoned EPD for assistance. The victim provided officers with a description of Landowski’s vehicle. EPD Officers began patrolling an area of town where they knew Landowski frequented and located his vehicle traveling on Highland Avenue.
An enforcement stop was conducted by Officers and Landowski was detained without incident and subsequently identified by the victim. During a search of Landowski’s person, incident to his arrest, Officers located the monies stolen from the victim’s account.
Landowski was transported and booked at the Humboldt County Correctional Facility, on charges of Kidnapping to Commit Robbery and Robbery.
11/25/25: Defense motion to continue preliminary hearing granted; new date 1/6/26. Humboldt Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees appeared on the case for the People. Defense witness subpoenaed not present; Deputy Conflict Counsel David Nims seeking body attachment.
