Due to the support of our City Council, Measure E and our community we are proud to announce that we will be beginning our move into the new Police Facility at 2600 Newburg Road in Fortuna starting Monday June 24, 2024.
During this move and transition some services will be temporarily impacted. Public Safety remains our top priority and all emergency services will remain in place.
911 calls will be temporarily routed to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center, as they will be assisting us and our community during this transition.
The internal phone system will be offline at the Fortuna Police Department beginning Monday June 24, 2024 at approximately 8:00 A.M. While the phone system is offline all Police Services calls will be received through a department cellphone. Our 707-725-7550 number will not be operational. If you are in need of police services you will need to call 707-382-8639. This number will be answered by a Public Safety Dispatcher who will not have the ability to place callers on hold and or transfer calls during this transition. Please only utilize this number for request for officer response and utilize 911 only for immediate emergencies.
In regards to the phone system impacts it is our hopes that the impact will be a limited timeframe and we will update the public via media and social media as regular phone services are restored.
During this move and transition all public office/walk in services will be unavailable. For example livescans, animal licensing, records requests and general office services.
We are anticipating office services being unavailable from Monday June 24, 2024 through Sunday June 30, 2024. If services become available sooner we will update the public via media and social media.
