Wasting more taxpayer money on a mental health diversion when she was already evaluated and found competent to stand trial

On criminal proceedings were reinstated in former Humboldt Superior Court assistant operations manager Socorro Cervantes' 2024 case. After evaluation by a doctor, Cervantes was found competent to stand trial. Now, Deputy Public Defender Public Nims wants to file for mental health diversion.

Waste of taxpayer money. Preliminary is on 6/6. The 2023 case is trailing and a pretrial is scheduled on the same day. Date for preliminary scheduled to accommodate "his highness " Nims who is unavailable. Attorney schedules are taken into consideration but if the PD's office intends to file for mental health diversion, the preliminary will likely be continued and all this grandstanding by a lawyer paid by the County. Nims is no longer in private practice, he needs to show up and work like other public defenders who do their job. Gregory Kreis is gone but certain PDs are still acting out and Rexy and Michelle Bushnell needs to  tell the Public Defender office to shape up instead of potential layoffs for other County employees and HCSO deputies who actually work instead of latte runs in while court is in session.

6/6: Preliminary hearing continued to 7/2 by defense.

6/21: In her restraining order case, Cervantes asked this trail her criminal case. Hearing continued to 10/11/24.

7/2: Preliminary hearing continued by DA to 7/10 because witness unavailable.
